QUICK UPDATE! YES….this pattern IS now available….it’s the Lombard Street bag and is in my pattern shop HERE!
So I thought it is time to give you a sneak peak at the pattern I am working on at the moment, given it is not far off completion! It is a cross the body bag (Or do you like to say ‘across’ the body bag? LOL) with an adjustable strap, among many other features…..BUT it is no ordinary cross the body bag…it comes with a little secret!
Here’s the front view:
Let’s zoom in a little closer:

Ok…..a little closer still:

Well….admitedly it is a little hard to tell what you are looking at in this picture so I will fill you in! On the front of the bag, which we are looking at in the above photo….it has two large slip pockets (The two bottom zig zag lines) a smart phone pocket hidden within the top large slip pocket (No that isn’t the secret!)….
PLUS a hidden zipper pocket recessed below and behind the top line just below my label.
You would be forgiven for thinking that is the secret I am referring to….but it isn’t! Let’s keep looking!
The top of the bag has a recessed zipper compartment….nothing secret about that, except that inside the main roomy compartment below this zipper, there are four additional slip pockets which you can’t see here! LOL

So now lets turn the bag around and take a look at the back:

Now can you see what secret is hidden BEHIND the bag? No, not really? OK…Here’s a side view:

NOW can you see it? Here’s another pic for an even better birds eye view:

Got it now? It’s a zippered, padded iPad pouch pocket, no less BUT much more! LOL Of course you could put any other similar sized electronic device in there or indeed anything else you might care to stash away! LOL
So…..what do you think? Do you like it?? I hope so! BUT….can you help me NAME the bag??
WIN a FREE Hardware kit PLUS newly released Pattern:
I am offering the newly released pattern PLUS the hardware both FREE of charge to whomever suggests the name I finally choose for the bag!
To enter simply leave your name (Or names!) suggestion in the comment section below! PLEASE leave your name as well as….and this is REALLY important…a method of contacting you should you win!….(The namer of Dawn to Dusk still has their hardware kit and pattern awaiting….was that YOU??) HINT: I am leaning towards a name other than a persons name BUT not one describing the fabric as this isn’t going to be the cover bag! 😉
Testers Needed:
PLUS………I am looking for a handful of extra testers with access to ByAnnie’s Soft & Stable stabiliser for making the bag PLUS an ipad or other similar electronic device (Ok…the iPad isn’t absolutely mandatory BUT would help if you do have one to test the fit! LOL), pretty please! I am thinking the pattern is likely to be rated Advanced simply because of the slightly more complex assembly of the iPad pouch pocket, so no beginners please!
Finished bag size = Approx. 24cm (9½”) X 29cm (11½”) X 5cm ( 2”)
Testing will be either the weekend of the 15th/16th September OR the following weekend 22nd/23rd…..plus you will have a couple of extra days either before the weekend or after to test, depending on just when I get it finished! If you are keen to have a go at testing please email me direct (Not comment below please, this for NAMES only or other comments such as how much you LOVE the bag! LOLLL!)
Thanks for your interest! 🙂
Happy bag making,
P.S. Please forgive me for not personally commenting on all the comments and name suggestions for this post….if I did, I would be here all day instead of working on the pattern! LOLL….BUT rest assurred I READ and appreciate every single one of them! 🙂 Thank you!
I love the interesting “Z” configuration of the front pockets, hence the name that came to my mind is “Z-Pocket/Cross-body Bag” or “Z-Pocket/I-Pad Tote” or “Z Tech Tote”.
Patti Vajda

The bag looks very well done! I love the recessed zipper top!
I would call it the Cross City Satchel. 🙂
Chris I would call it the Switchback Bag. It reminds me of hiking down into the Grand Canyon and the way the paths switchback (zigzag down into the canyon). Looks great!
The Zip Zap Bag.
Zig Zag Secrets!
I love it Chris!
Criss-Cross Bag. ?
It’s such a great design!
Agent Z Tech Bag
It reminds me of a secret agent with all the hidden pockets!
The Zorro bag, after that old film with the chap who left the mark of Zorro (a Z shape) wherever he’d been.
I like the bag! When will the pattern be available?
Croz-Bag? Or Crozzing-Bag?
Really love the details
Susanne
The bag is fabulous.
when I saw all the hidden pockets..the first name that came it me is Secrets
I can’t wait for this pattern!! It will fit my needs perfectly!! I would call it:
Zig Zag Zaniness Bag or the
Zany Zig Zag Bag
because it is unbelievably zany that you’ve managed to put so much storage in such a small bag!!
The Zig Zag Bag
The Zany Zig Zag Bag
Zig Zag Zaniness
Because it is zany that you got all that storage into one bag!!
This is a really great bag design! It has everything I am looking for in a cross body bag plus the size looks to be just right.
How about calling it “The Everything Bag”.
This bag has everything I have been looking for in a cross body bag- and the finished size looks to be great also.
How about calling it “The Everything Bag”!
HOLD IT ALL CROSS THE BODY BAG, that’s what I would call it because it will hold everything you need. It looks great very stylish & would suit young & old & I even think you use IT for a man bag & it wouldn’t look girly if done in the right colour.xx
Love this bag Chris. BTW I am smiling at Serena’s suggestion for a name. It is a clever pun; it does criss-cross, it’s a cross-body bag and it gives a nod to you the designer – it’s clever.
Now onto my lame by comparison ideas:
Tech Toting
Techie tote
The i-handy bag
i-candy bag
Tablet Tote/Pouch
Thanks for your lovely comments Patricia…..glad you like it! 🙂

Hi Alicia,

I immediately though of “Lombard Street” in San Francisco with its tight hairpin turns. Plus it would be a great bag to take on a trip to San Francisco with all the hidden pockets and the iPad sleeve! Love it!!!
Great bag! How about “All Aboard”?
With the secret pockets this makes me think of espionage. What about Covert Operation or Classified Information? Whatever you name it, it looks like a great bag!
What a fabulous bag!! I love cross-body style bags so my hands are available for dealing with my kids. 🙂 I would name it The Uber Bag – as in being Uber Organized! 🙂
Love the new bag It is so different from what you can buy in shops.
Well wait for it so I can get it. I am not good at naming things
How about “The Everything Bag”
Love the bag and have signed up for your newsletter. My name suggestion is the Kangaroo Pouch.
Nancy at PugMomQuilts
How about “Pockets Plenty” for this cute bag?
My suggestion for a name for this new purse pattern is the COMPLETE CROSSOVER.
It is complete with anything a person could want, & it’s a cross-body, crossover. Even add your name,
Chris’ Complete Crossover. Easy to remember & talk about, &makes your name permanently linked with the “Perfect
Purse”. It is the perfect purse because it really is a purse, with the added benefit that you can carry the I-Pad in the padded zipper pocket on the back!
I would call it “ZELDA” for the zig-zag pockets and Zelda Fitzgerald. She had some secrets during her life!
Beautiful bag!
All of those “secret” compartments make me think of “CIA bag: Concealed Ipad Accessory bag.”
How about the Ziggurat Bag? Like the temples, it has the zig-zag steps leading up to the top, provides security and storage, is complex inside but simply stylish!
A great looking pattern> I like the fact it could be made with male orientated fabric for men who would like a bag to carry their IPAD, keys and phone in:) So a gender neutral name could be good:) Not that I can think of one!!!
wow Chris – you do love to challenge us all! Love it. I’m corny when it comes to naming things… how about “Zip it Good” Cross Body Bag 😉
Chris Cross Cross Over
Criss Cross Cross Over
Chris your talent never ceases to amaze me! This one is so beautiful! as every bag you make! The pattern reminds me of Crop Circles, so it would me my crop circle out of this world bag!!! Thanks for sharing it at the Fluster Buster party, Lizy party co host
Chris, this bag is amazzzzing! I love it!
I would call it NeverEnoughPockets
Love this bag Chris, you have some super ideas, and really know what us women want in a bag, and i think this has everything I want! I quite like the name you have already used “cross the body bag”
