The Factotum
$11.95
The Factotum is the perfect office tote bag! At the front of the bag, under the flap, are pen pockets, slip pockets, a divided middle section and a zipper pocket. At the back of the bag is a hidden zipper opening to a large document pocket. The document pocket fits A4 & Foolscap folders easily. There is a slip pocket at each side of the bag. The main compartment is closed by a recessed zipper. Inside you will find a Laptop pocket, two side pockets, 2 large slip pockets with centre pen pocket and a large zipper pocket. There is also plenty of room inside for the Minifacto, which is a smaller cross body bag especially designed to fit in your office tote perfectly, holding all your everyday essentials, such as your wallet etc, so you can just grab it and go out to lunch!
The Factotum is rated Advanced. Not because it is difficult to sew but because it is a long sew with many pieces to manage. It helps to use the cutting labels provided, pinned to your work so you don’t lose track of what everything is!

Angela Trenholm –
The Factotum does take time, but as usual with Christine’s patterns, the instructions are clear and concise. I’ve made two in commercial vinyls, one for a gift, and one for me. Both are loved!

LOVE this pattern – though it took a long time to complete – the final product is fantastic. As always, easy to read pattern makes things clear.

I love this bag for an office bag when needing to carry a laptop and all your office stuff. The instructions are clear and detailed. There are a lot of pieces for all the pockets and sections, but it comes together very well thanks to Christine’s attention to detail.

The sheer number of pieces in this pattern is intimidating, but so worth it. All of the little details – the pockets, the slip pockets, the front design – build a fantastic work bag. Once cut out and interfaced, it actually doesn’t take as long to put all those pieces back together than you’d expect. I love all the tools included to manage the pattern pieces and make it all go together as quickly as possible.
